Treebilee, Celebrating 70 Years Reign

This year of 2022 marked Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee. In recognition of her seventy remarkable years of unbroken service as monarch an iniative (affectionately known as the ‘treebilee’) was launched by His Royal Highness Prince Charles the Prince of Wales when he planted an oak sapling in the grounds of Windsor Castle in May 2020. It has been hoped that worldwide participation by groups and individuals will celebrate by planting trees and shrubs in honour of the Queen’s lifetime of service.

Coffs Harbour Garden Club wished to participate in this initiative by planting a tree in the North Coast Regional Botanic Garden (NCRBG). This event is happening on Sunday 6th November at 9am. There is no requirement for spades etc but some gardening gloves might be the go. If you could bring a BYO morning tea so that we can enjoy some time in the NCRBG together with Rick from the Gardens. Please RSVP to President Margaret on 0434 196 854.

It was decided to plant an endangered species indigenous to this area, it will be interesting to see what Rick has in mind for us to plant. There will be a plaque indicating CHGC’s participation in this iniative.

Andrea Ferrari from News of the Area Coffs Coast wrote an article about the planting on 6 November.
