Spring Garden Competition In Recess

2021 Competition Cancelled

The Spring Garden Competition for 2021 will NOT be happening this year unfortunately.

Coffs Harbour Garden Club President, Margaret Hunt made this announcement last week. ‘It was a tough decision to make, and our sincere hope is for this to be a temporary recess, with the competition coming back onto the Coffs Harbour community event calendar in the future.’

It was felt that it only fair to advise the Coffs Coast community at this time, as many of the gardeners who enter this competition will be commencing plans to prepare their gardens for the competition.

The Spring Garden Competition has been an item on the Coffs Coast calendar for 31 years and during that time it grew into one of the largest garden competitions in regional New South Wales.

With the generosity of Coffs Harbour City Council and many local sponsors this competition was made possible. Its objectives were to encourage gardeners to do something healthy while helping to beautify our city, to have a care for our environment and be ‘water wise’ in gardening practices.

The Garden Club have sourced independent, qualified judges from across NSW each year. By having different judges this ensured continued integrity of the competition.

These judges have all agreed that it was a wonderful opportunity to visit some stellar Coffs Coast gardens and to meet passionate gardeners. Their task was a huge undertaking with three full days judging the residential gardens alone.

The Schools competition was judged by a qualified judge and the growing competition for schools being judged by members of the club.

The roundabout judging was also undertaken by Coffs Harbour Garden Club members.

Many thanks to all who have made this competition possible including sponsors, Council, judges, stewards, members of the Coffs Harbour Garden Club and last but not least, our very special Coffs Coast gardeners.
