Joan’s Tools

New member Joan brought her favourite tools to the February meeting as part of a new segment at our meetings – Member talks on anything garden related.

Joan pointed out that you don’t necessarily have to spend a zillion $ on tools. She suggested to just check out the bargain bins and you might well find a true gem like her Dibber (RRP around $5)  which she picked up for 10 cents!

Her bulb planting tool was also a bargain at $2.99.

Her ever faithful hunchback weeder has been passed down to her from Joan’s mother-in-law. It has been diligently oiled over the years keeping it in tip top condition.

Her Mattock (with sturdy plastic handle, no splinters for our Joan) has seen plenty of action in her current garden as the site had plenty of old roots. Joan said they are impossible to break through with just a spade.

Joan has created a beautiful garden at her unit – so much so the neighbours have been shamed into getting the tools in action too. The unit block now is looking just lovely, the Woopi and Coffs Garden Clubs had an outing there in January this year.

Thank you Joan for your interesting talk.
