In Memoriam of Margaret Crawley

Margaret Crawley was an exceptional person and member of our club. Margaret joined the garden club in 2010 and became a force to be reckoned with. Her capacity for work was tireless. She held many executive positions over the years and very ably steered the rest of us. Whatever Margaret undertook, she did with 100%passion and commitment.

A very willing participant in the running of the Spring Garden competition, planning routes and driving around judges and stewards.

Her organisational skills were phenomenal! And did she know meeting protocol! Many times she saved me when I made a constitutional error, and she did it in such a way that I’m sure the rest of the members missed it.

Marg loved a Bunnings bbq. She ran numerous very successful ones for the Show society. It was only a few days before she became ill that she said to me ‘ I’ll run the club bbq. I have all the stuff, contacts and know how’. Marg also volunteered to continue finding our monthly guest speakers. Always varied and very informative, she had the contacts.

Margaret was always the first to volunteer for something. You could always rely on her hand going up. If she could not do it, she would volunteer others for the job. Or pull them aside so that they did eventually volunteer. She stopped at torture as a means of conscripting people.

And that too was Marg, she could laugh at herself, and did so on numerous occasions in the years we got to know her.

Margaret, we thank you for all the work that you did for the club and the friendship that you offered so willingly to us all.

 We will miss you enormously.

May you rest in peace.

By Margaret Hunt on behalf of our club.

(Immediate Past President)
