31 March Outing

Red flower of Nidularium plant

The outing this month is to Heritage Park Estate to the north west of the Moonee Beach shops. Access is (travelling north) via Solitary Island Way at Killara Avenue and we will be visiting TWO gardens (and perhaps rubber necking other gardens along the way).

First stop is to CHGC Vice President Frank’s garden at 35 Heathmere Close, Moonee Beach. BYO morning tea and chair. Frank has moved to the Mid North Coast from an outer north western suburb of Sydney where he was actively involved in gardening and a garden club there. In fact he was instrumental in establishing a garden club there!

Next stop is to a gorgeous predominately native garden at 195 Heritage Drive. Greg is a horticulturalist with a passion for natives and his garden is brimful of wonderful plantings. His block overlooks a tranquil dam with expansive areas for folk to really spread out – check out his veggie patch as well. He is even generous enough to have a little herb plot at the end of his drive for people to snip as they pass by, the rosemary is just gorgeous.

Lunch this time is at the Moonee Tavern and there is no need to RSVP – just join in.
