Our very first meeting for 2021 is on the 16th January. It will be almost the same, but a little different too…….

Usual time – 1:30pm

Our meeting will be at the Botanic Garden as usual, BUT it will be held in the shell area instead of the Display Room (this has been booked out by another group), the Shell can be found if you continue along the path and across the grassed area from the Cafe.

We will have a wonderful Guest Speaker (from Coffs Council), talking about Waterwise gardens. The Council are VERY supportive of this section in our Spring Garden Competition. The criteria of this portion of the competition is set by Council and it will be excellent to have someone explain fully what constitutes a Waterwise garden.

The competition table will be happening too with the flower of the month being Salvia (any variety…. there are over 900 to choose from soooooo, we should be able to have a pretty good display). Please have your exhibits benched by 1:30 so that Marg Franks and her helper can get cracking on the judging.

The Trading Table will be up and running too, so if you have anything that the membership may be interested in please bring along. This may be cuttings, propagated plants, seeds, cut flowers, produce from your garden, jams, pickles, chutneys etc (we have some awesome cooks in the membership). Proceeds from the Trading Table enable the club to subsidize the Christmas Party function each year and also it is nice to share with fellow members.

A raffle of course will be on the offing – no tools though, as we have exhausted the stock snapped up when Total Gardens closed their doors. However, Ruth Reynolds will, no doubt have organised some nice prizes – $1 per ticket (proceeds of the raffle also go towards the Christmas function).

Our membership fees are due now ($15), you can pay directly through the bank or pay at the meeting. Details for bank transfer are:

Westpac Bank
BSB. 032-585
Account Number. 233729
Account Name. Coffs Harbour Garden Club Inc.

If you could please bring your own chair that would be fantastic (or a rug if you would prefer).

Also bring your BYO afternoon tea (as COVID is still a bit of an issue, we will not have a shared arvo tea just yet).

Looking forward to seeing lots of members at our first meeting and of course, we always welcome any visitors and potential new members.
